STEP

The Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP) is an action-oriented entrepreneurship training that develops in young people the skills and confidence to pursue an entrepreneurial career. The evidence also shows that STEP has a significant positive impact on the mindset change of trainees from job seekers to job creators.

STEP was first implemented in 2018 by Godfrey Okoye University Enugu and in the last 5 years, the GOUNi Directorate of Entrepreneurship (DOE) has been responsible for training students in STEP across Nigeria.

In the next 11 weeks, 96 students from the departments of Electrical installation, Plumbing and masonry will undergo hands-on and evidence-based entrepreneurship training. The student will learn how to start and run real businesses by combining knowledge, skills, confidence and other resources to become job creators.

This starts with examining your hobbies, what interests you the most and seeing how you could convert this into a business idea. STEP orientation took place on the 18^th of February 2023 and classes will run from the 15^th of March to the 24^th of May 2023.
