On April 20th, 2023, the Centre of Practical Skills Plumbing students had an opportunity to showcase their practical skills at the proposed Eye Clinic, Annunciation Hospital.  The students were divided into teams, and each team was assigned specific tasks to complete – construction of three chambers, patching the walls, pipework in the three toilets for water supply and wastewater, and backfilling the trench.

The construction of the three chambers was a complex task that required a lot of attention to detail. However, the students were able to complete the task efficiently and effectively, and the chambers were constructed to a high standard. Patching the walls was also a crucial task, as it required the students to use their problem-solving skills to identify and fix any issues. The students were able to patch the walls to a high standard, ensuring that the walls were stable and secure.

The pipework in the three toilets for water supply and wastewater was a challenging task that required a lot of precision. The students were able to complete the task efficiently, and the pipework was installed correctly. Finally, the students backfilled the trench, ensuring that the area was safe and secure for the public. Overall, the project was a huge success, and the Centre of Practical Skills Plumbing students demonstrated their practical skills and knowledge in a real-world setting.

We are proud of our student’s achievements and would like to thank the Annunciation Hospital for allowing us to use their proposed Eye Clinic for the fieldwork. The experience was invaluable to our students and will help them to be successful in their future careers.
